Gelli on the Side
What a discovery! I am bad about distractions and bad about ‘squirrels’; always trotting off in unrelated directions to try new things. But this is too good.
Gelli plate printing. Maybe four months ago I purchased a Gelli (brand name) printing plate and a brayer in order to experiment with the printing technique. As many know, the plate a like a gelatinous, rubbery plate where you can apply acrylic inks and stencils in order to make incredible prints with surprising results.
A couple of weeks ago, fortune would have it that the Fodder Challenge invited @drewsteinbrecher to share his expertise in making prints, so it gave me a chance to use my new art tools. And it was fabulous. We made paper stencils, pulled prints, mage a large collage and then cut into four smaller collages.
Keep in mind, these prints are just on computer/copier paper. The paint adds a lot of body to the paper. and, the texture of the prints is so interesting.
The papers make interesting collages, but I think small pieces also integrate well as backgrounds in collages.
